Diane’s Vanilla Sugar Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp milled vanilla
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 cups flour

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar with electric mixer. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add baking powder and flour one cup at a time, mixing after each addition. The dough will be very stiff; blend last flour by hand.
  2. Do not chill dough; divide into two balls. On a floured surface, roll each ball into a circle approximately 12″ in diameter and 1/8″ thick. Cut out cookies with floured cookie cutters.
  3. Bake cookies in preheated oven on ungreased cookie sheets on top rack of oven for 6-7 minutes, or until cookies are lightly browned.
