Oolong Tea
$16.00 – $17.00Oolong Tea, from the Chinese words for “Black Dragon,” is one of the rarest and costliest teas in the world. It is grown in mountainous areas, and treated with a labor-intensive, hand-crafted process.
Local Spicery’s Oolong tea, from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian, China, is harvested in the late spring, sun-wilted, bruised, twisted into strands, partially oxidized, and air-dried and fired to obtain the traditional rich, smoky flavor that causes many people to place Oolong between the spectrum of green and black tea.

Hibiscus is much more than a tea flavor — it’s the flower of the Hindu goddess Kali, used for medicinal purposes in Chinese herbology, and worn as a sign of marital availability by Tahitian women. No flavors added ~ Just pure Hibiscus.

A most tasty and satisfying tea! I admit, I bought it for the name (I collect Sherlockian teas), but now I drink it for pleasure and will certainly order more. This is really well balanced, with a surprising depth. Even brewed strong it doesn’t get bitter, and stands up well to milk. The flavour profile is complex and pleasing–no standout notes but, instead, smooth and refreshing from first to last. After trying dozens of “novel-teas,” it’s lovely to finally have a go-to Sherlockian tea. (And FWIW it also works day-old and iced.)
